A: Guns and Roses DID cover several songs, some of which are mentioned in another answer. But they also wrote a lot of them. They wrote about whatever they felt like writing about, which is not done under a Disney label. That makes GNR, like them or not, considerably more authentic as a rock band. Furthurmore, all the members of GNR were infinitely more talented than anyone from JB. This is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of skill level. For instance, GNR could play any JB song, but JB could never cover a GNR song. It would be too hard for them. As for the lyric thing, GNR is still better, cuz the lyrics aren't fake or written by Disney, even if 90% of them are about sex or drugs.

A: I'm not sure why they made the different versions, but I know that the difference is in the lyrics. Your guess is as good as mine on why they made the different versions. From Wiki: The version with the original lyrics is the fourth track on Use Your Illusion I, while the version with the alternate lyrics is the thirteenth track on Use Your Illusion II. Only the vocal tracks differ, and even then only in the verses; however, in those verses, not only are the words entirely different, but the meter and melody are also slightly different. There is also a third version, officially released only on the single for the song, which was recorded during Appetite for Destruction sessions in 1986
